DEPARTMENT OF LIFE LONG LEARNING AND EXTENSION (DLLE)

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension [DLLE] (known earlier as Department of Adult and Continuing Education and Extension) established on October 12, in the Year 1978 and has been recognized as a statutory Department of the University of Mumbai since 1994 to promote a meaningful and sustained rapport between the Universities and the community. The DLLE seeks to facilitate the sensitization of students to socio-cultural realities. Degree College Students take up extension work projects related to social issues, for which As per the Ordinance 229.A of the University of Mumbai, the Extension Work Students who successfully complete Extension Work of 120/240 hours as per University rules are eligible for 10 grace Marks.

The Department of Life Long Learning and Extension was established in KLE College Kalamboli from Academic year 2018-19. The main objectives of the DLLE to inculcate the Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Social Awareness and Creativity skills among the students.

Types of Projects under DLLE

Annapoorna Yojana (APY)

  • Objective: To encourage students to try their hand at entering the field of small scale business and increase self-reliance approach.
  • Achievement: Development of time management, decision making, interpersonal relations, planning and organization, leadership, understanding production & marketing on a small scale qualities, self-confidence, communication skills & negotiating skills.

Population Education Club (PEC)

  • Objective: Spreading awareness on burning social issues and increasing the knowledge about these among the public.
  • Achievement: Reaching the unreached motto-achieved through interaction and awareness creation drives.

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)

  • Objective: To spread awareness about importance of education and encourage completion of education. To create awareness about concept of Open Schooling and to give information about NIOS.
  • Achievement: Spread of awareness about education among all people.

Survey of Women’s Status (SWS)

  • Objective: To facilitate the college to obtain basic data about the status of women in the area of work.
  • Achievement: Analysis and interpretation of data, survey and research skills development.

Career Project (CP)

  • Objective: To help students to find out information about career and enable to learn the interview technique, method of collecting information and to know about job prospects of career being explored.
  • Achievement: Understanding employment, related occupations and its advantages and disadvantages.

Industry Orientation Project (IOP)

  • Objective: It is a career oriented program empowering students with marketable work skills, so as to increase his/her employability.
  • Achievement: An entry into the world of work, opportunity to try out a career, work experience certificate, employable skills development, all round ability development and gaining practical experience in the industry.

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension has conducted following activities:

  • On 2nd December 2021 The DLLE conducted the first term training program with the guidance of the teachers in charge. Teachers enlightened the students about all the activities to be conducted in the academic year. They also explained in detail about the format of the report to be submitted by the members at the end of the year and gave highlights about the ‘UDAAN’ festival.
  • The Department has conducted two day Food Festival on 18th and 19th December 2021. Students arranged food stalls in college campus where they prepared and sold the food items. The objective of the activity is to inculcate the entrepreneurship skills among students.
  • The Department has conducted the survey of women from surrounding locality in the month of March 2022 for collecting the data to know the “Status of Women in Society” under the community based activity. Survey of more than 100 women was conducted for making action plan for the betterment of the women in the locality.
  • The Department has celebrated National Youth Day on 12th January 2022.In the remembrance of Swami Vivekananda birth anniversary in which essay competition was held to create awareness about Swami Vivekananda and his contribution to the society.
  • On 5th and 7th March 2022 Under the “Career Project”(CP) activity of University, DLLE unit has organized Two day Career Exhibition on the theme “Career Opportunities after Graduation” in auditorium in which DLLE students disseminate information on 30 different career opportunities available for the students after graduation through career projects.
  • Students of DLLE are successfully involved as volunteers in various programs conducted in college throughout the year.
  • On 15th and 16th January 2019 Under the “Career Project”(CP) activity of University, DLLE unit has organized Two day Career Exhibition on the theme “Career Opportunities after Graduation” in auditorium in which DLLE students disseminate information on 30 different career opportunities available for the students after graduation through career projects.
  • The Department has celebrated National Youth Day on 12th January 2022.In the remembrance of Swami Vivekananda birth anniversary in which essay competition was held to create awareness about Swami Vivekananda and his contribution to the society.
  • The Department has conducted workshop on “Issues of Drug Addiction among Youth on 24 January 2019.Students were informed about various issues related to drug addiction.
  • The Department has conducted mega tree plantation drive on 12th July 2019 in which more than thousands plants were planted surrounding the kalamboli area.
  • The Department has celebrated World Mental Health Day on 11h October 2021.Students are aware about issues faced by people suffering from Mental disorder and students are informed about the treatment available for mentally disabled people.
