About:

A library is a place where many books keptand arranged systematically. Most libraries are public and let people take the books to use in their home. Most libraries let people borrow books for several weeks. Some belong to institutions, for example, companies, churches, schools, and universities. The people who work in libraries are librarians. Librarians are people who take care of the library.
Other libraries keep famous or rare books. Which have a copy of every book thathas been written in that country. Some libraries also have other things that people might like, such as magazines, music on CDs, or computers where people can use the Internet. In they offer software to learn the alphabet and other details.

With the spread of literacy, libraries have become essential tools for learning. Libraries are very important for the progress and development of a society. Libraries are collections of books and other informational materials;however, a library can also be a collection of items or media. People come to libraries for reading, study or reference. Libraries contain a variety of materials. They contain printed materials, films, sound and video recordings, maps, photographs, computer software, online databases, and other media.

Aims:

  • To set an environment for more productive teaching-learning process.
  • To maintain user oriented policies and programs
  • Using library and information technology innovatively and appropriately.
  • provide and deliver information services to the user community.
  • Support and enhance teaching and learning processes by delivering and
  • Promoting the effective use of information resources and services.

The objectives of an academic library:

  • Supporting the teaching, learning, and research needs of students, faculty, and researchers.
  • Providing access to a wide range of scholarly resources, including books, journals, databases, and other materials.
  • Offering research assistance and information literacy instruction to help users navigate and evaluate information.
  • Preserving and promoting access to scholarly and cultural heritage materials.
  • Collaborating with faculty to support curriculum development and integration of library resources into courses.
  • Fostering a conducive environment for study, research, and intellectual exploration.

These objectives aim to contribute to the academic mission of the institution and to facilitate the intellectual and scholarly pursuits of the academic community.

Library Committee Minutes of Meeting the Second meeting of the Library committee was held on Saturday 16/12 /2023 at 11.00 am in the Conference Hall.

Last meeting reading, 16/6/2023 and action taken of Fulfilment.

  • Library collection development: last meeting reading, 16/6/2023 and action taken of Fulfilment.
  • Faculties and all membership data uploaded on the ERP software
  • Increase Library reading seating capacity
  • Outdated old syllabus textbooks from JC/DC library collection.- Old books are taken out of stock and distributed to needy student free of cost.
  • Increasing Library qualified staff and CCTV camera. -Work has been done CCTV an installed in the library

World Students’ Day is a special occasion that falls on October 15th every year, dedicated to celebrating the late aerospace scientist, educator, and former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. This day holds immense significance as it coincides with his birth anniversary. Dr.Kalam was affectionately known as the “People’s President” and was deeply revered for his invaluable contributions to education and his unwavering support for students. Since the United Nations officially designated October 15th as World Students’ Day in 2023.1this day has been observed worldwide to honour his legacy.

Celebrating Dr.Kalam’s Legacy: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu (Madras), and his birthday is celebrated on this very day. His life and work continue to inspire students and educators alike. As a brilliant scientist and a visionary leader, Dr.Kalam made significant contributions to the fields of aerospace, defence, and technology.

World Students’ Day is not just a celebration of a birth anniversary; it’s a celebration of the enduring legacy of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. It is a day to inspire, motivate, and empower students to strive for excellence, to be resilient in the face of failure, and to become responsible global citizens. Let us continue to cherish the memory of Dr.Kalam and work collectively to create a world where education is a right for all and a force for positive change.
